News broke today of the death of Rachel Oniga a veteran NOLLYWOOD actress. According to a family source. She passed on in Lagos at the age of 64. She is survived by a 3 kids. Details of reasons for her death are still sketchy. Though the beautifully light skinned actress had been in and out of hospital in recent times for an undisclosed illness. Her family is yet to issue an official statement due to their still grappling with the shock of her death.

Rachel Oniga was born on 23 May 1957 in Ebutte Metta, Lagos State. She is from Eku, Delta State in South-South Nigeria. She worked briefly at Ascoline Nigeria Limited, a Dutch Consultant Company before her first movie titled “Onome” and her debut Yoruba movie was “Owo Blow.” She began her acting career in 1993, shortly after her divorce. The 64-year-old Rachael also featured in major movies like ‘Chief Daddy’, ‘Sango’, a movie scripted by Wale Ogunyemi, produced and directed by Obafemi Lasode and Wale Adenuga’s television series, ‘Super story’ among many other major appearances in Nigerian Nollywood productions.
Rachel was a star actress in her hay days in various movies with Nollywood. Up till her death she was involved in a movie production in Mowe Ogun state. She had recently shot some movie scenes prior to her demise on Friday night.
Rachels marriage broke down mid carreer but latter in an interview with a Punch reporter she expressed regret for not fighting to keep her marriage to her late husband. She decided not to marry again.
Recall that the Entertainment industry recently lost another veteran music artist Sound Sultan who passed on earlier in July.
