MY STORY PART 13: Brother comes visiting.
By Victor Edegbai
I am blessed with many brothers. I have always known US to be daring. However, when one of my brothers came to visit, I was not ready for the shock that accompanied his daring move.
Ijesei or Sylas, is the finest of the five boys my dad has and intelligent too, but that boy too get mind. I know say I get mind but I dont know where his own came from.
Oh boy told me around 8:00 am that he wants to come to Aba. The thing shock me. At that time, not only were we struggling with insecurity and bad roads, we were also suffering from dirt related diseases, and my ajebutter brother wanted to visit. I quickly conjured excuse for him not to come. I described the type of waste littering every where in the town, explained how we used to run once we hear gun shots, told him about how I fell down with keke that tumbled because of bad spot and all this boy could tell me was ” Bros, sebi you don dey there for 7 months now. Na teo heads you get?
So I gave up. Before 2:00pm, omo boy called me that he has entered town. I described my office for him, and told him where to get keke, so that he could come pick my keys and go home. The next thing I heard was “Bros no worry, I go show by 5 when you don close, I fey somewhere for Ogbor hill dey chill out”.
My heart skipped, Ogbor hill !!!!. Even me living in Aba has not stepped foot there since I resumed with the bank. The stories from there were unpalatable, always about how big big men abandoned their houses because of kidnappers. This boy wants to give me bad name Okhwaya?. That is how I began to scream for him to leave that place immediately. I shouted the kind of shout I have never shouted before. I began to sweat like a he goat who just escaped death because the knife is blunt. Chinwe beconned on me to calm down, that nothing will happen. As I was still sweating, this boy was sending me pictures of him in keke, with different captions. There was this spectacular caption IF I NO FALL NA GOD. It was a picture of him in keke, holding on strongly while the keke was hanging by a hair’s breath on a bad spot that had very water logged surrounding. This boy was cruising and catching fun while I was sweating for him out of fear. I just told my self then that indeed WETIN PERSON NO KNOW NO GO KILL AM.
He eventually got to the office, and the next thing he leave me dey play with my colleagues. Inside my mind I was like WHO BORN THIS BOY SEF .
