It’s been long I wrote about my bank and I. The last episode was more like a tribute and I lost my muse after that.
However, I want to try again. They say the way to a man’s heart is food, so I will talk about SHE who it was that gave us food then.. UCHECHI
You will recall that I fell sick at a point and Madam Ojiks had to caution Chidi for not allowing me to go and get treatment on time. Well after the treatment and having been told that the ailment was related to eating from dirty place ( Aba was generally dirty , if you select , you go hungry ), I resorted to eating Uchechi’s food.
Uchechi was the food vendor close to our branch. I checked out her place and realised it was a bit hygienic and her processing was bae too.plum, dark in compression and always looking confused but never confused as to how much you should pay, she sabi cook. Her Ofe Akwu, beans and rice was a life saver. The fact that she would bring the foods to us in the office helped us too. We created an emergency canteen where she would put the food, cover it and use paper to write our names on the plate to indicate who owns which.
That eating room was a rendezvous of some sort. I remember how many beefs started and ended there. I remember how Izu will just enter and collect person meat before you rush into the room, Uma will always stand and eat as if the world will soon end, Chidi cannot eat without cracking jokes, … NNA eh, I miss those days sha, that time the only ambition was to test who sabi drink pass.
Uchechi the spice of Ariaria branch stomach affairs.
Funny thing is I remembered you today because of my wife that mentioned you. If you are reading this, the woman didnt like you at all. Apart from the fact that your food use to fill our stomach and I ended up not being able to eat when I got home , she always used to complain of the very very very very bad smell that came from the toilet when I deposited . She will just shout “SHEY YOU DON GO EAT UCHECHI FOOD AGAIN ABI?”
Hahahahaha.
Cheers folks . Hoping to have the muse return to write more.
